CMM Programmer

Provide quality support for engineering and manufacturing in the area of dimensional feedback for quality planning and product integrity. This service is provided through the ability to program, operate, and translate data from CMM equipment.

Performance Expectations

• Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:
  • The Global Operating System Plays;
  • OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard;
  • ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard;
  • TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards.
• Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
• Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
• Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
• Maintain department 5S requirements.
• Program CMM from CAD model, blueprint, and sample part. Be able to function as a CMM technician-operator with the ability to edit programs.
• Perform basic CMM maintenance and troubleshoot CMM issues.
• Take the lead with manufacturing to ensure all aspects of quality assurance are maintained and improved upon.

· Assist manufacturing in troubleshooting quality issues on the manufacturing lines and follow up to ensure corrective action was achieved.

• Assume additional administrative duties such as obtaining quotes for parts, repair services to CMM equipment and seeking low cost, high quality suppliers.
• Create, edit, and modify CMM programs for new and existing products.
• Coordinate supplier returns.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Participation in continuous improvement process.

Desired Characteristics

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical degree (manufacturing, drafting) preferred or technical training certificate. Calipers, micrometers
• Essential Skills
• Reading: 5
• Document Use: 3
• Numeracy: 3 (basic math, metric system)
• A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years previous CMM programming experience required.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with employee at all levels.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints required.
• Skilled in reading blueprints
• Skilled in building stylus systems
• Knowledge with CMM machines (Zeiss preferred)
• Knowledge of CMM programs (Calypso preferred)
• Familiarity with with metric measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers)
• Ability to operate an overhead crane
• General knowledge in Statistical Process Control.
