Georgia State Clinical Director
Location: Atlanta, GA - Hybrid basis 50% of travel required throughout state of GA
Position Type: Full Time
Work Schedule: Mon-Friday
The CLINICAL DIRECTOR is responsible for:
- Coordinates the oversight of the clinical department of an assigned substance abuse treatment program, and ensures client needs and contractual obligations for quality and quantity of care are met. Provides crisis support to therapists and clients. Observes and documents individual and group counseling sessions and reviews clinical records for quality and contract compliance
- Assesses and evaluates clinical programs to ensure that client needs, licensing requirements, clinical supervision requirements, Gateway standards, and contractual obligations are met. Monitors trends and makes recommendations on service provisions. Develops policies and procedures to ensure quality services for clients and accountability for staff.
- Compiles clinical data and information and prepares analyses and reports for review and use in planning and evaluating program services, contract compliance, and achievement of service delivery objectives. Reviews documentation of clinical records for compliance with licensing standards, completeness, timeliness, and Spectrum’s quality improvement standards.
Assists in developing recommendations to improve overall program quality and effectiveness.
- Conducts clinical staff meetings to review clinical treatment plans and documentation to ensure clinical standards compliance, and provide advice and guidance in resolving complex case problems. Approves recommendations for client disciplinary actions and discharges.
- Serves as leader to assigned personnel to promote commitment to organization philosophy and mission, and continuous professional growth and development of staff. Interviews, hires, evaluates work performance, disciplines and discharges subordinate staff.
Develops and implements training plan for all staff as well as developing a program to help non-credentialed staff get certified. Would also develop the training for the GDC staff training
May coordinate and conduct scheduled in-services, or arrange outside training services in accordance with contract terms.
- Oversees and/or investigates, documents, and resolves complaints or incidents concerning clients, family members, visitors, or staff. Refers sensitive issues to State Director.
- Serves as program liaison, and maintains and fosters cooperative working relationships with variety of referral resources and services, community organizations, and criminal justice and social services agencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education / experience / certifications / licensure must meet contractual requirements
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health or substance abuse counseling, or closely related field; PhD preferred
- Must be licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or have Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification from one of the three certification boards: Georgia Addictions Counselors Association (GACA), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and from the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC)
- Certification as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) and/or Certified Professional Supervisor (CPCS)
- Three (3) years of professional counseling experience and at least two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Valid local driver’s license, insurance and good driving record
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of health administration regulations and standards, program funding and financing, and applicable laws and regulations; in-depth knowledge of management theories and techniques
- Knowledge of Behavioral Health, Adolescent Services, Correctional Treatment, and Quality Improvement processes and systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other applicable programs preferred
- Advanced communication skills to exchange information and interact with treatment team, clients, client families and outside vendors and agencies
- Working knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations
- Strong leadership skills; time and project management skills
- Strong critical thinking, and presentation skills
- High level problem-solving and analytical abilities to organize, plan, present data and direct activities and operations within assigned geographical area
- Ability to organize, evaluate, plan effective administration and operation of diverse programs and services dispersed across the assigned geographical region
- Ability and willingness to routinely travel within the State
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely, and remain alert to traffic conditions and to identify and comply with traffic signals and signs
