Position Summary:
Performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries.
Maintain quality patient care in compliance with San Ysidro Health Core Values. Operate available x-ray equipment to produce quality images of the body.
Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Positions imaging equipment and adjust controls to set voltage, current, exposure time and distance in accordance with the specifications of the examinations ordered by the providers.
2. Collaborate with Care Team personnel to provide timely and quality services.
3. Reviews and evaluates computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
4. Explains procedures and observes patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan.
5. Demonstrates strong working knowledge of physiology and anatomy to capture proper views of the affected areas as described by the provider orders.
6. Assists in the identification of problems and submits recommendations to
Technical Supervisor and Clinic Services Manager.
7. Interprets statutes, rules, policies, and regulations regarding radiation safety as required.
8. Responsible for the proper maintenance of all records relating to licensing and registration of radiation producing machines.
9. Provides and schedules preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operation.
10. Maintains complete and accurate medical records to ensure access to records that facilitate continuity of care for patients.
11. Participates in the standardization of imaging services policies and procedures.
12. Provide assistance in dressing or changing seriously ill, injured, or disabled patients.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of current state and federal radiation control laws and regulations.
3. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Job Requirements:

Education Required (Minimum level of education):
California Radiology Technologist – Radiography (CRT-R)
Certifications/Licenses Required:
American Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
American Heart Association
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience):
6-months experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an outpatient setting
Preferred: 2-year experience as a Radiologic Technologist
Skills Required to Perform the Job:
Effective oral and written communication
Effective communication via medical terminology
Equipment Used:
Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Radiography (CR) X-ray equipment
Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
Radiology Information System (RIS)
Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing, walking. Some lifting of supplies and equipment. Ability to follow directions accurately. Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. May be required to work some evenings/weekends.

1. Punch out before 5 hours from the start of shift for meal periods.
