Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) needed for Immediate Hire at Huntsville Family Health Center and New Market Clinic. Pay based on certification and years of experience. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of the physician and nursing manager in cooperation with other office staff in assisting with the safe and effective care of our patients in compliance with established standards and protocols of the company's goals and objectives.
Your duties will include, but not limited to:
- Responsible for clinical functions including the maintenance of patient flow, exam room preparation and turnover, brining patients back to exam room, taking and recording basic medical history, medication reconciliation.
- Assist physicians/nurse practitioners with examinations and procedures as needed.
- Assist patients in understanding provider orders.
- Monitor and document vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respirations, as well as chief complaints, medical history, allergy history for patients, etc.
- Administer medication, injections, phlebotomy and point of care testing needed for patient care.
- Process patients' referrals in a timely manner.
- Responsible for retrieving, routing, and assisting with provider/nurse messages regarding patient telephone calls, messages, and call backs; appointment scheduling; and prescription refills as directed by the provider.
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids.
- Additional responsibilities include clinical compliance in sterilization techniques, sample medication oversight and compliance; OSHA requirements, and any other compliance standards required within the clinical realm of the practice.
Required Education and Certification:
- High School Diploma or General Education (GED).
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. National Medical Assistant Certification required.
- Current CPR Certification in infant, child and adult required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 or more years' experience in an outpatient primary care/doctor's office setting.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records systems and medical terminology.
- Experience working in a busy physician solo practice preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Skills/Abilities: Use of computers, telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, adding machine, credit card processing machine, document scanner, stethoscope, EKG machine, pulse oximeter, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, scales, glucose monitor, blood pressure, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, providers and internal customers to aid in meeting patient satisfaction and retention goals of the company.
Required Health Records Documentation: Proof of current Hepatitis B vaccination; negative TB skin test performed within the past 12 months or negative chest x-ray and no evidence of symptoms or completion of treatment. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Annual Flu vaccination is required. A physical will be required if hired. CNAHSI is a Drug Free and Smoke Free workplace.
