CASA Volunteer Recruiter and Trainer
Starting Salary $22.51/hour

Position Summary
The CASA Trainer/Recruiter is responsible for recruiting potential CASA Volunteers through outreach with social service organizations, philanthropic and service groups, and corporate entities. This position assumes lead responsibility in the preservice training of CASA volunteers in accordance with National CASA standards and provides ongoing volunteer support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure adequate retention of qualified volunteers through the development and implementation of training opportunities.
Assist in educating the community regarding the CASA program and issues relating to it.

Recruit potential CASA volunteers through outreach and cultivation of all social service organizations, philanthropic and service groups, and corporate entities for the recruitment of qualified CASA volunteers.
Respond to all volunteer inquiries.
Screen and interview volunteer candidates with Program Director.
Assume lead responsibility in the training of CASA volunteers in accordance with National CASA standards.
Assume lead responsibility in maintaining and updating the CASA training manual/curriculum in accordance with the guidelines of the National CASA Association, as well as any training programs established that would fall into accreditation standards.
Maintain compliance with National CASA and Illinois CASA Code of Ethics and Program Standards.
Be instrumental in the development and planning of all agency training programs related to volunteers and the staff of the CASA of McLean County.
Work with the Executive Director and the CASA Program Director in the general growth and efficiency of the agency including, but not limited to, planning, media and press, presentations and public speaking, goals and objectives for strategic planning and any other programs which may be developed.

Case management functions: Supervise or assist CASA volunteers in their duties upon their request and on an as-needed basis.

Maintain documentation of case progress and activities.
Attend court hearings associated with CASA cases.
Attend Administrative Case Reviews and Child Family Team Meetings, or meetings for any CASA case where the volunteer is unable to attend or their presence if requested.
Keep accurate data, statistics and program information in a user friendly and readily identifiable manner for purposes of producing data for the court or grant monitors.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to effectively communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to perform their roles successfully.
Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crises relating to child abuse and neglect.
Knowledge and understanding of the juvenile court process.
Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor"s degree and/or experience in child welfare.
Ability to effectively communicate with others from diverse backgrounds and experiences in efforts to recruit and train potential CASA volunteers.
Ability to effectively communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to perform their roles successfully.
Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families in crises relating to child abuse and neglect.

Physical Attributes/Demands

This position requires activities such as sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, lifting, moving and carrying light objects, operating office equipment, and driving an automobile.

Work Environment
The work is performed in an office environment and involves exposure to normal, everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of offices. Work may also be performed outside, exposing the employee to inclement weather conditions.
