Job description
Summary of Work
We are seeking an individual who is ready to take on an engaging and rewarding career in our security team. Capitol Security provides the primary response to emergencies and security at events held on the capitol grounds. Capitol Security Officers are an integral part of the North Dakota Highway Patrol team and are responsible for the safety of executive, legislative and judicial officials, state employees and visitors. This position is full-time with benefits, including fully paid family health insurance and is located at the ND State Capitol in Bismarck. The salary starts at $3,476 per month.
Duties and Tasks
- Rotating shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays
- Patrol buildings and grounds
- Monitor security camera for suspicious persons and criminal activity
- Monitor security alarms
- Facilitate property access by authorized personnel
- Monitor and operate magnetometers at public entry points
- Provide security for the Supreme Court, the Justices of the Supreme Court and visitors of the Court
- Ensure safety of individuals on state property
- Physically inspect security of doors, windows and gates
- Assist with implementation of safety and security recommendations
- Warn violators of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking or possession of contraband articles
- Investigate and document injuries and accidents
- Assist in planning and implementing a facility emergency preparedness program
- Assist with fingerprinting and printing of identification cards for State employees.
- Regulate traffic and parking and assist in vehicle accident investigation involving state or personal vehicle incidents occurring on state property
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One year of customer service experience.
- A high degree of written and/or verbal communication skills in dealing with other employees, clients, or the general public.
- Duties require bending, pushing, crouching and lifting up to 40 pounds.
