What You’ll be Responsible For:

The Campus Security Manager is a hands-on position responsible for the day-to-day management of the security functions for a campus that includes a Preschool, Community Center and offices of not-for-profit community organizations located in Davie, Florida. The purpose of this position is to predict, prevent, detect and respond to criminal attacks against the people and assets of the campus.

What you’ll be doing:

· Assess areas of risk and provide detailed security and safety related reviews to campus senior management and stakeholder agencies

· Ensure appropriate responses to the key areas of student, staff, and patron safety and security including prevention of workplace violence and premises protection

· Be part of the active patrol of the campus to deter threats and to ensure that the campus security services are consistently delivering effective security

· Maintain a “security presence” and high visibility through such activities as patrolling campus property and buildings

· Assist in developing and maintaining a security aware culture within the campus by educating and training employees to be prepared to respond to emergency situations

· Disseminate security and incident information to help senior management develop and update security and emergency procedures and protocols.

· Provide supervision and training of the campus contract security staff

· Implement and monitor the campus security program

· Assist the campus and its agencies in complying with any current security-related legislation and/or regulations

· Review, prepare and present security reports

· Coordinate the purchase and supply of physical security equipment for the campus as approved

· Ensure the effective maintenance of security vehicles, communications, and equipment

· Investigate and report all serious/critical incidents and maintain ongoing communication with the COO regarding security issues

· Lead and respond to security situations

· Assist campus management to identify, assess and address health and safety issues and measures and recommend changes to ensure common standards, and applicable regulations are met.

· Cooperate with government bodies, emergency response teams, law enforcement and other agencies on security-related issues

Work with senior campus and agency staff in responding to internal investigation

Required Experience:

• 5 years of experience in the operational management of a security organization
• Formal Security, Military or Law Enforcement training or equivalent knowledge gained through several years of experience in a directly related organization
• Experience dealing with technical and operational aspects of CCTV, alarm systems, confrontation, and diverse social and cultural community needs.
• Experience reacting to emergency situations, recognizing criminal offences and evidence, and preserving such evidence
• Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community and external organizations
• Supervisory experience, with strong mentoring and team-building skills
• Proven ability to work under pressure
• Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $67,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
