Business Support Analyst Senior-Oracle Functional Analyst EPM/ERP

JOB SUMMARY :

This position will provide day to day functional support for accounting assigned business applications and processes centrally managed and administered by Shared Services Support (SSS) across all subsidiaries of the Southern Company. The individual will primarily support Oracle Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) application to include Financial Consolidation and Close (FCC) and Account Reconciliations (ARCS) and associated end-to-end processes. The analyst will support Oracle Cloud Financials application to include General Accounting, Intercompany and Journal Reconciliation (SOCO JV Recon Master) modules.

In this role, the analyst will work closely with key business partners to provide application maintenance, process improvements and customer support for the applications. The analyst will also collaborate with the Technology Organization to provide technical and infrastructure support for the SSS supported applications. This position will perform effective support the key business operations and system support duties to include the following:

  • Application Support: Ensure timely and effective case management, change management and testing as needed in support of key controls and customer requirements.
  • Financial Close: Ensure the coordination of all activities related to timely and accurate production of the routine financial and operational reports.
  • Testing: Align resources as needed to support application testing in partnership with SSS Business Support Team and Testing Management. This is to include the application release strategy in testing cases and writing scripts for user acceptance testing.
  • Key Control Compliance: Ensure the timely execution and testing of identified key controls related to support areas. Also conduct and support audit activities when required coordinating with other support resources across the Southern System.
  • SSS Management Support: Special Projects, Strategic Planning Support and Business Continuity.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 - 4 years supporting Oracle EPM platform & application products including Oracle Financial Close & Consolidations (FCC) and Oracle Account Reconciliation (ARCS). required
  • Proven working knowledge and understanding of processes and procedures related to Oracle ERP Financial General Ledger Journals, Intercompany Accounting, and BPM Workflow is preferred with 2 - 4 years Oracle support experience required
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in all technical and functional aspects of EPM application solution design.
  • Understanding of Finance and Accounting business processes, including financial consolidation and close, GL hierarchies, and corporate reporting requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Smartview and Web Studio to be able to develop new reports and support existing reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to facilitate meetings, document requirements articulate the value proposition and business case for finance solutions.
  • Support application end to end design, aligning requirements, processes, and system functionality is required.
  • Strong organizational skills driven by goals and standards of excellence.
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work independently.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting, Computer Science, IT or related discipline is required.
  • Oracle EPM Certified implementation professional preferred
  • Oracle Financial Close & Consolidation (FCC) certification preferred
  • MBA and/or CPA license a plus.
  • 2 - 4 years operational experience in the areas of financial/operational reporting and accounting a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills with experience in successfully troubleshooting issues for clients. required
  • Expertise in Oracle General Accounting, Intercompany Accounting and BPM Workflow. preferred
  • Familiarity with Oracle Reporting, Scheduled Processes, OTBI, OACS, and Dashboard usage is desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of all aspects of Oracle Cloud EPM implementations and/or required changes to existing applications.
  • Support the reconciliation period process including data loads, data mapping, and profiles.
  • Maintain legal entity and business unit configurations.
  • Configure and maintain intercompany configurations including i ntercompany organizations, approval groups, and balancing as required.
  • Support the journal reconciliation tool SOCO JV Recon Master
  • Gather and analyze client business requirements for new acquisitions, new functionality requirements and changes to existing functionality.
  • Debug and resolve errors/end user issues.
  • Write and maintain clear, concise functional and technical specifications for all new functionality or changes to existing functionality.
  • Maintain and develop documentation for design, training, and application administration.
  • Proactively and frequently communicate with customers to build and maintain a solid working relationship.
  • Work with the Technology Organization to support EPM quarterly releases, Oracle Service Request (SR’s), development activities and required patching.
  • Perform System Administration functions for the application including all configuration, user access and data management.
  • Support all affiliate customers during monthly, quarterly and year end closes.
  • Utilize Accounting knowledge and experience to consult with customers and translate business requirements into correct FCC system configurations.
  • Support and participate in the design of existing and new Oracle Reporting for Scheduled Processes, OTBI, OACS, and Dashboards as needed.
