Job description
The Rapids Warehousing Business Services Manager is responsible for three main areas which include monitoring financials, inventory management and systems administration. The position does not manage employees but rather essential components that support Rapids Warehousing (RW) operations. The manager interacts with cross-functional groups to achieve defined objectives.
This position is with Helena's manufacturing group which operates under the name Helena Industries or HI. HI's corporate offices are located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis. HI has provided formulations and packaging solutions for companies around the world for over 60 years. Rapids Warehousing is part of the HI family and is a commercial storage, logistics and supply chain partner that operates out of central offices located in Cordele, GA. Rapids Warehousing gets its name from the employee culture the business is centered around - R.A.P.I.D.S. stands for Responsive, Attitude, Proactive, Integrity, Dependability and Safety.
The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the management or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
- Works cross functionally to perform accounting responsibilities and analyze KPIs that support RW financial statements, the accounting system and managerial reporting.
- Manages demand planning and forecasting for effective and efficient use of warehouse space.
- Develops, reports and analyzes financial data and advises leadership on related areas to reduce operating capital bound in inventory.
- Provides guidance and review on corrections to inventory and costing related issues for the plant.
- Reviews and evaluates the system of internal controls necessary to safeguard company and customer inventories and ensures accurate financial reporting.
- Manages inventory transactions to ensure accuracy and optimum usage of inventory assets.
- Manages the Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM) system and trains plant team members on inventory entry into the Oracle system.
- Ensures timely and accurate data entry and expands system capabilities as applicable to improve the business operations, productivity and profitability.
- Ensures inventory procedures and processes are followed in accordance with customer requirements, system requirements, company policy, ISO guidelines (FIFO), labeling and regulatory requirements.
- Plans, executes and reconciles physical inventories.
- Oversees daily cycle counts, audits and reconciliation of activities between systems.
- Ensures customer requirements are reported accurately and timely, according to customer specifications and contractual obligations.
- Resolves discrepancies through established processes.
- Organizes data, provides results and offers solutions to leadership.
- Develops, conducts and maintains Rapids Information Technology (IT) responsibilities in collaboration with the HI IT team.
- Monitors all activity associated with RW IT-related development and implementation in conjunction with HI's IT team in order to expedite activities and ensure alignment and tracks all projects through completion.
- Audits RW and temporary employee time in ADP, submits information to corporate for pay periods, maintains attendance, absenteeism and paid time-off (PTO) and inputs and tracks this information in ADP.
- Assesses and analyzes problems, fully understands functionality, renders decisions based on research, performs testing in the test environment and develops documentation while collaborating with others.
- Manages the initial setup and upkeep of system software profiles and custom responsibilities throughout Rapids Warehousing.
- Researches, analyzes and resolves system and interface issues.
- Works with all employees regarding any computer, network, functionality or access issues prior to the submission of help desk tickets.
- Works with continuous improvement teams to determine if processes need to be revised, makes recommendations if needed, and implements necessary changes for future support needs
- Performs housekeeping audits and ensures that corrective actions are taken by the teams on the assigned shift and in the assigned area to maintain a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Education and experience needed for this position
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years related work experience is required, preferably in accounting, inventory or information systems.
- Warehousing/Logistics experience is also preferred.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job
There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.
The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
