Position Purpose
The Billing Specialist plays an integral role in our growing Healthcare Revenue team. This person is goal-oriented, compliant, revenue-driven, highly organized/accurate and motivated employee. They are focused on all areas of the revenue cycle for specific Vivent Health Clinics and Departments.
Scope of Responsibilities
Vivent Health is one of the nation’s largest providers of HIV prevention, care and treatment services with an operating budget of $260 million and employing over 550 professionals.
The unique, nationally recognized Vivent Health HIV Medical home model of care assures that everyone with HIV has access to medical, dental, mental health and social services and provides the best opportunity for patients to achieve high quality health outcomes. Vivent Health also provides aggressive HIV prevention services to gay men, injection drug users and others at the highest risk for HIV infection.
Vivent Health currently operates in multiple states nationwide. It embraces a Market Culture to increase access to care, enhance quality outcomes, achieve and surpass financial performance expectations and has an aggressive plan to expand into additional states.
Essential Functions
- Efficient and timely Revenue Cycle work within EPIC including: Charge Review, Claim Edit, Payment Posting, AR Follow-up, Refunds, Patient Support, and Billing Performance vs. Budget.
- The Billing Specialist works closely with the Clinic Department Manager, Health Services Administrator, Patient Services Representatives, Coders, EPIC Site Specialist and Vendors (Resolute Analyst, Contracting and Provider Enrollment) to ensure the entire Revenue Cycle is managed well.
- Meet and exceed patient satisfaction expectations and goals aligned with Vivent Health's mission.
- Special Department or payer projects.
- Assist with payment posting, credentialing projects, fee schedule analysis and additional projects that support the Healthcare revenue cycle department.
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Revenue.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 1-3 years min experience with EPIC Resolute Billing.
- Excellent experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding; familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure compliant, maximum reimbursement.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
- An Influenza vaccine is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and is required thereafter on an annual basis.
- A tuberculin/TB skin test is required of all new employees at the time of employment, and may be required thereafter on an annual basis, depending on position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage relationships with various Insurance payers, including Credentialing Managers and Regional payer representatives.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and responsible use of confidential information.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients and patients.
- Good Problem-solving skills and can-do attitude.
