We are now hiring for a full-time Billing Specialist to join our Merrionette Park Team!
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Compiles and processes all necessary billing data and prepares timely and accurate fee-for-service billings for all major payers including Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurances.
- Prepares accurate and timely fee statements to clients. Prepares monthly client fee reports and distributes to appropriate staff.
- Produces complex internal and external monthly and ad hoc billing reports.
- Works directly with third-party payers to correct inconsistencies in billing data and reports. Reconciles billing data to revenue collected and/or makes necessary adjustments.
- Maintains all related automated and manual files and records.
- Works closely with department/unit staff on billing matters.
- Identifies weaknesses in existing processes and makes recommendations for correction. Ensures integrity of billing data through timely and accurate data transmissions, backups, software update, etc.
- May perform other tasks as needed.
- Works effectively with diverse staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent education, required.
- Minimum one year of Accounting or related experience required .
- Two years bookkeeping or related experience (prefer insurance experience) preferred.
- Strong computer, math, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical exemption is obtained, weekly testing is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
SALARY:
- Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $37,500.
