NOTE: This is W2 Contract Position

Position Description:
 Lead STA representative between external suppliers and Ford VO (Vehicle Operations) and PVT
(Plant Vehicle Team).
 Facilitate Critical Supplier Process to drive supplier site QR performance improvement.
 Participate in Whiteboard (Post-OKTB), VRT Meetings, Daily Plant Quality (FCPA / Warranty / PIC
Room) Meeting, as needed on an exception basis. Drive resolution of external supplier process
(SP) 0-MIS to 3-MIS warranty concerns through supplier notification and driving containment
action(s) at the responsible supplier.
 Support QR2 System procedures by advocating accurate CR/QR binning, reviewing threshold
QRs and providing support for dispute resolution. Assist IQ with non-responsive suppliers. Assist
suppliers and plants in QR part quantities (Reject / Scrap / Rework) and cost data accuracy.
Support Part Quality Confirmation process (supplier site 3rd-Party Inspection) for suppliers with
repetitive containment failure.
 Lead containment (ICA) and drive resolution of supplier process responsible 0-MIS to 3-MIS
BSAQ (Balanced Single Agenda for Quality) projects with Site STA..
 Support with VRT (Variability Reduction Team) to achieve warranty targets.
 Provide early notification to engage Site STA team on potential Supplier Process Stop Shipments
and lead containment action implementation. Assist Site STA team with vehicle on hold and
release process tracking. Work with Stop Ship stakeholders to support proper identification of
root cause owner for (PAC) Prevent Action Closure.
 Monitor daily production report (DPR) and provide notification to STA management for issues
that require Site STA team awareness / intervention.
 Support preparation for management quality meetings, as required – VQR (Vehicle Quality
Review), NAQM (North America Quality Review), SARs (Special Attention Reviews).

Skills Required:
 Be proficient in English (working with teams – globally)
 Proficient at problem solving: Green Belt Certified, Black Belt Certification preferred
 Knowledge of manufacturing processes

Skills Preferred:

 Engineering Degree, master’s degree in engineering preferred
Experience Required:
 Quality experience
 Strong communication and team building

REQUIREMENTS:
1. On-site at assembly plant
2. Preferred STRONG manufacturing background
A. Processes, problem solving skills, interface with plant leadership and plant quality
B. Understanding dynamics of plant environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Interfacing on the Quality Reject Process (Supplier QRs for Ford)
2. Work with incoming Quality Office to “root cause” and solve problems
3. Understanding key processes
a. 8D, 7 Star, 5Y Problem Solving Methodology
b. Procedures of problem solving are CORE FOCUS
c. Reviewing warranty analysis – ford warranty systems is a big plus
d. This would put them at top of the hiring list
e. Plant experience is very important
f. Exposure at supplier level
g. Working on the line, solving problems in a production environment
h. With Resident STA role – issue is to get to ROOT cause, not put a bandaid on issue
Role / Tasks
Ensure the parts coming into the plant are meeting quality standards
 And the incoming parts CONTINUE to meet standards, fit, appearance, through life of vehicle
#1 priority for role is supporting warranty analysis
# of objectives point to how are we doing with warranty, customer issues, warranty concerns
(customers taking cars back to dealerships)
Resident Engineers are assigned to a very specific vehicle sub system
 High voltage team, wiring team, electrical team, software and strategy team, exterior,
chassis/underbody, exterior, powertrain
They take warranty info and send it to suppliers through a Ford system, they get the claim out to
suppliers
So coordinating with suppliers to analyze and fix issue

 For the issue: Is it parts? Installed incorrectly?
Key activity they track - did these parts get out to these suppliers so we can make sure they can check
What did supplier find when they did tear down analysis
And did they do it fast enough
Also work on Parts Incoming to facility
Quality - immediate containment of issues within plant but sometimes they need assistance with getting
suppliers to work faster/making sure issues get contained and closed out quickly - this is a key day to day
role
Last portion of job is management, reporting, presentation
 Daily reviews within plant
 If there was an issue they found on a vehicle, 2 days you have to bring in supplier to find what
did supplier do to contain/fix and make sure supplier is supporting process and supporting plant
 There are some Ford systems you would have to use, when supplier send info - you would put it
into BSAQ (balance single agenda for quality system) which starts to flag/track process of fix
from supplier

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
