Associate Attorney – Compliance

The Associate Attorney will develop and implement compliance policies and procedures, while providing legal guidance and support to the Company on compliance issues.

Schedule: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday are regular business hours.

Location: Can work a hybrid schedule – occasional days in our Downtown Chicago office, and remote. Will need to travel to and from court in Cook County and surrounding area. Must be able to appear one Saturday morning per month in administrative court

Salary: $60,000.00 annually.

DAY TO DAY

  • Support the Company’s Compliance Department under the direction of the Associate General Counsel.
  • Stay up-to-date on all relevant laws and regulations affecting the Company, including but not limited to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Regulation F, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide legal guidance and support to the Company on compliance issues.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of the Company’s practices to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and communicate updates to management and staff.
  • Draft and review collection letters, settlement agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Investigate and respond to consumer complaints and disputes.
  • Provide training to staff on compliance issues and best practices.
  • Regularly interact with pro se and represented debtors in-person and virtually.
  • Efficiently prepare legal correspondences and review documents for signatures/filings; effectively coach administrative staff on tasks that can be delegated to non-attorneys to enable the lawyers to maximize their time.

WHAT YOU MUST POSSESS

Must Have:

  • Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook.
  • Experience in web-based legal research.
  • Must be available to travel to and from court in Chicago and the surrounding counties of Chicagoland.
  • Independent, self-starter who can take direction from managers and work well with non-attorney legal staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, self-directed, team-based environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
