Apprentice Optician and Optometric Receptionist

Eyes on the Square is a beautiful, modern, upscale, private optometry practice and optical on the Downtown Bentonville Square. We are hiring for a full-time apprentice optician and optometric receptionist*. The candidate we're seeking is both professional and bubbly! This person needs to be a natural communicator, fashion forward, and able to think on their feet to problem solve. This role requires someone who is organized, detail oriented, and enthusiastic about excellence and learning new things, as extensive on the job training will be provided. No eye care experience is required.
This role will be dynamic and will include (but is not limited to):
As an Optometric Receptionist: (*This role is temporary. Once optician licensure is obtained, the position will shift to full-time optician)
- Greeting Guests
- Managing Schedules
- Pulling Insurance Benefits
- Communicating with Patients via Phone, Text, Fax, Email, Mail
- Checking Patients In and Out
- Reviewing Paperwork
- Ordering Contact Lenses
- Entering in New Inventory
As an Apprentice Optician you will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Howell, our Optical Manager, and alongside a Licensed Optician/mentor to learn:
- How to take and record measurements, adjust, repair, and fit eyewear, and carry out these tasks with accuracy. (Assisted by the latest technologies, such as Optikam)
- How to check that our finished eyewear meets our standards, as well as customer requests
- How to explain prescription terminology, lens options, our brands, and product offerings to customers. We have many standardized office verbiages that make this clear, consistent, and concise.
- How to place, fill, and dispense orders for glasses and contact lenses, while accurately recording all information into electronic health records software (RevolutionEHR).
- How to problem solve, bounce from one guest to another, and provide consistently excellent customer service to all of our customers/patients.
- How to apply insurance benefits
- How to properly and promptly submit insurance claims for all eligible optical orders.
- How to help customers choose the best frames and lenses based on their prescription needs, face shape, style, and lifestyle.
- How to help run our booth at the Farmer’s Market, First Fridays, and Trunk shows
- How to block, cut, and finish lenses in office.
- How to maintain clean and organized work spaces as well as cleaning the office (a team effort)

Hours (not flexible): Tuesday 8-5, Wednesday 8-5, Thursday 10-7, Friday 8-5, Saturday 8-1
Once all required optician training is complete, we will pay for one round of any exams taken to achieve licensure. We will reimburse all continuing education and license renewal fees annually. There will be opportunities for bonuses and raises once your license is obtained.
