Location: Belington, WV
Living Allowance: $500/week
AmeriCorps Award: Position is eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the program. Value of education award is $3,247.50 (pre-tax). Individuals who perform at least 600 hours of national service within West Virginia are eligible to receive a semester of tuition and fee waivers for in-state institutions of higher education.

The West Virginia Rural Engagement Ambassador for Development and Youth (WV READY) program will provide the following support among others:
- Create a community asset map to determine best avenues to spur outdoor economy in assigned communities
- Identify outdoor economy plans created, but not quite implemented
- Help explore your community’s abundant economic opportunities and assets
Position Details
Stewards Individual Placements (SIP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. SIPP, in partnership with the City of Belington Board of Parks, are seeking an intern who will support the city in establishing a department capable of maintaining a full-time Director position. With three main park facilities, half a mile of walking trail, and several other courts and park property, this individual will drive awareness and usage of the parks by holding engagement events and opportunities, increasing ease and satisfaction of the pavilion and court facilities, and support summer camp programs for local youth.
Position Responsibilities will include:
- Develop a community asset map of all of the city’s outdoor recreation assets and to determine best avenues to spur outdoor economic development.
- Hold stakeholder meetings and work with local and state government agencies for updates.
- Support community engagement opportunities including volunteer days and public feedback on proposals and surveys.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- Able to commit to 9 months service term
- Position begins on or before January 30, 2023
- Must be 18 years or older
- Willing to serve in WV, some travel to events may be required
- West Virginia resident preferred
