Description: Mattie Rhodes Center (MRC) has been serving Kansas City youth and adults from diverse populations since 1894. MRC operates out of five locations in the Greater Kansas City area. Current programming focuses on mental health, domestic violence, family education and support, youth development, substance abuse, Latino cultural arts and arts education. Mattie Rhodes Center serves as a resource and advocate for Kansas City’s Latino community.

Responsibilities:

The Workforce Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for insuring that the established vision of MRC’s workforce development program is clearly outlined, defined and implementable within the community served. This position works towards establishing employment training, work readiness activities and a strategy for job placement of participants. The role requires the person in this position to work with a wide variety of external partners including employers, educational institutions, government agencies and referring non-profit agencies. The role also requires working with internal referring partners from within the agency as part of a host of services to support agency participants’ growth and individual success. This is a full time exempt position, which requires flexibility in work hours.

COMMUNITY and BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS

  • Strengthens community/business partnerships to establish access to employers, educational resources, and other necessary resources to ensure a critical mass of referral opportunities for participants.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to participants at all age levels on professional skills necessary for employability or career advancement. This may include, but are not limited to, resume writing, interviewing and computer skills.
  • Assists with setting up mentorships, job shadow and job interview opportunities.
  • Organizes and executes job fairs, or other career events.
  • Assists with creating agreements/partnerships with educational partners.
  • Continues to identify and assess “best practices” regionally and nationally to improve the established program.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provide records as needed to Director, or others providing reports to agency partners and funders.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Develops and administer workforce-training programs.
  • Assists participants in creating a customizable workforce study program to assist participants in planning necessary steps to achieve job/career goals.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records to comply with contractual, funder and agency needs.
  • Maintains affiliations with appropriate state, county and local workforce development agencies, and provide referrals as necessary
  • Maintains working knowledge of state, county and local economic initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field (i.e., business administration, human resources, marketing, and education/training). Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Two years or more of experience in workforce development activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Office Applications and virtual meeting software.
  • Demonstrated skills and background in workforce development and planning. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Can prioritize multiple tasks and projects, work under stress, take direction and meet deadlines.
  • Take charge of situations and be able to solve practical problems.
  • Perform duties in compliance with participant requirements and agency policies.
  • Experience delivering information via a variety of formats: in person, online, blended learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual Spanish/English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
