Job Summary
Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) Assistant Director will ensure the components and daily operations of a WISP network run optimally and efficiently. The position requires working with contractors to complete tower site installations, maintaining equipment, network design on both the corporate networks and Wireless Internet Services Network. WISP Assistant Director will be responsible for the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of customer and building/tower wireless equipment. This position will work very closely with the customer experience and engineering teams, as needed, in order to provide proper support, updates and resolutions towards incidents and existing/new deployments. Manages work with Senior Network Engineer for on-site customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing internet equipment and scheduling. It will also require reporting on services and project completion.
Essential Functions
- Oversee all WISP operations and processes including customer premise equipment configuration and support
- Serves as liaison to both internal field teams and other third party sub-contractors for customer installs and trouble ticket resolution
- Manage provisioning and billing system
- Oversee Senior Network Engineer in developing and providing a training plan for technical Support and Field Services Technician.
- Oversee safety, networking, proper equipment at roof height, running CAT5-E cable from outside to the customer's computer inside
- Serves as subject matter expert in troubleshooting and supporting radio frequencies (RF) link performance, reliability and quality
- Management of outside plant infrastructure at tower sites
- Monitor the alarm activity for customer and internal building infrastructure through various software monitoring systems such as Ubiquiti UISP, Zabbix, LibreNMS and integrated CRM tools
- Assist, manage and provide reports on contractor based offsite installations
- Oversee software and hardware upgrades, maintenance, configuration on firewalls and other network security related devices or software

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree
Experience
- Seven (7) years of networking experience is preferred
- Radio Frequency (RF) engineering for wireless planning
- Strong understanding of Radio Frequencies (RF) and Radio Access Network (RAN) design
- Strong understanding of Wireless Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) deployment and configuration
- Proficiency in 802.11x protocols
Preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
- Internet Service Provider (ISP) / Wireless ISP/ Telecommunication background
- Knowledge of computer & networking technology in both the wired and wireless fields
License/Certification
- Wireless Network Certification
- Must have valid Alaska State Driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe policy
