Position Summary
Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. Utilize welding equipment to make repairs to discontinuities of submerged arc weld seams on steel pipe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Proficient in assigned welding techniques
- Working knowledge of fixtures and weld set-up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
- Conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Welding equipment maintenance
- Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
- Utilize various hand tools and equipment.
- Utilize mobile device applications and programs.
- Safety and Housekeeping
- Other Duties as assigned by direct supervisor
Minimum / Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Equipment)
- Steel toe boots and sleeved shirts & welding hood required. Employee’s responsibility.
- Hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, protective gloves provided by Trinity.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test
- One-year experience in various forms of welding
- Must be able to work in changing ambient temperatures.
- Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- Must have reliable transportation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear appropriate PPE, such as: steel toed boots, hard hat, eye protection and ear protection.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually high and appropriate ear protection is required. Additionally, this role may be exposed to workplace hazards, such as: fall hazards, traversing pinch points, working with flammable materials, sparks, and steel debris. Working around or near suspended loads involves the potential for a high risk of serious injury. Employee must always be aware of surroundings and wearing appropriate PPE.
Work is performed primarily in a production mill, warehouse, and/or outdoor settings. Including all weather conditions and temperature extremes, during day and night shifts. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high, depending on role and location. Proper PPE, including ear plugs, must be worn at all times.
Education/ Training:
- High School degree or equivalent
Experience:
- Welding (1 year) preferred
