Job Type: Part-Time

Reports to: Membership Experience Director

Summary/Objective

Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships, and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

Essential Functions

  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Interviews and tours prospective members; sells memberships.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  • Monitors facility and addresses any issues as needed.
  • Fosters an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Meaningfully participate in and lead efforts to support the Y’s commitment to equity and diversity.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Weekend Building Supervisor will ensure team members are meeting job expectations. This position does not partake in hiring or termination of team members. The Weekend Building Supervisor may dismiss team members from shifts due to performance or other issues that arise during a shift. At this point, the Weekend Supervisor will inform appropriate directors of the issues.

Work Environment

The Weekend Building Supervisor will work within the YMCA building, which includes the gym, wellness center, pool deck (to review staff, only as a lifeguard with appropriate certifications), member services desk, and perimeter of the building.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The Weekend Building Supervisor will work primarily on the weekends during normal business hours.

Travel

This position does not require travel.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Certified in CPR, AED, First Aid, or able to obtain within 30 days of the start of employment.
  • One (1) year of experience providing customer service
  • Two (2) years of prior management experience
  • Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Basic knowledge of computers
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
