General Statement of Duties

The Vice President of Human Resources position is responsible for leading the human resources operations and strategy of the organization. They serve as leader on employment and human resources policies, activities, and management of staff in the Human Resources Department, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy. The Vice President of Human Resources will adhere to deadlines and complete tasks with a high degree of detail and accuracy.

Essential Job Functions

1. Oversees daily workflow of the department.

2. Supervises department staff.

3. Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, procedures, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s needs.

4. Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, occupational health and safety, and training and development.

5. Identifies staffing and recruiting needs, develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.

6. Conducts analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS).

7. Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

8. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, applies this knowledge to communicate changes in human resources policies and procedures.

9. Performs other duties as required.

Job Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

2. Five or more years of progressive supervisory and management experience.

3. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification(s) required.

4. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

5. Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations.

6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.

7. Flexibility for other tasks as assigned.
