Overview:
Job Purpose

The Vehicle Shop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of hourly technicians. This will be a hands-on role that requires occasional travel. Labor Force Management: day to day shop support, fleet/prototype maintenance repair, diagnostic and troubleshooting, vacation scheduling, OT & weekend scheduling. Defining daily tasks, assigning shop request tickets, and setting directions for the team. Interaction with Engineering Groups. Support activities for cleanliness and safety.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities (80s of the Position)
  • Assign daily tasks, shop request tickets, OT & weekend scheduling, and vacation scheduling
  • Perform work in the inspection, repair, troubleshooting and service of electric vehicles
  • Work from preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, oral and written instructions
  • Assist engineers in determining improved procedures and serviceability
  • Operate a variety of hand, power, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment
  • Perform equipment inspections, adjustments, and certifications
  • Ability to drive a full-size truck and 20ft trailer
  • Track/Order shop supplies and parts
  • Help maintain vehicle cleanliness
  • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals
  • Efficient skills in basic automotive techniques related to repair and servicing of automobiles
  • Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or technical roles including EV (Electric Vehicle) or HV (High Voltage) systems
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of vehicles
  • Familiar with operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand power tools, shop tools, and automotive and electrical test equipment
  • Efficient skills regarding automotive techniques related to repair and servicing of automobiles
  • Light duty fabrication: experienced with drill press, sheet metal tools, and various hand tools
  • Low voltage vehicle wiring (12v system and component integration)
  • Data Logging and instrumentation with experience in thermocouples & accelerometers
  • Proven ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • 1 year of previous management experience
  • Associate Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology

Preferred
Experience

  • 5+ years of previous management experience
  • Fast Paced or Motorsport work experience
  • Vehicle test setup experience (Suspension configuring, Instrumentation)
  • Composite/molding fabrication experience
  • Retail automotive service experience
  • EV/HV experience
  • Automotive HVAC experience
Travel Requirements

10 to 20% travel required throughout the U.S.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time, occasionally bending or stooping, lifting up to 10 pounds, and prolonged periods of computer use.

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to lift up to 25-50 or more pounds, stand, sit, bend/stoop, or operate office equipment or machinery.

Salary will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to years of experience, training, skillset, location, etc. Expected salary range in CA – $104,300 - $125,100
