TRAFFIC CONTROL CREW MEMBER – Culpeper, VA

McClain & Co., Inc. is currently seeking a Traffic Control Crew Member for Traffic Control Division.

Job Duties

This position will receive instruction from our Culpeper, VA office. This is an hourly, full-time position with schedules being dependent on customer needs.

This position includes, but may not be limited to, the following duties:

· Setting temporary work zones on highways with cones, barrels, and signs.

· Loading/Unloading work zone equipment.

· Managing traffic safely through work zones while standing, using a stop/slow paddle and/or radio communication.

· Ability to operate Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA).

Job Requirements

The following expectations will be required of this position:

· Meet at assigned staging areas based on job locations to load vehicles and receive job instructions.

· Returning vehicles and equipment to the staging areas once a job is completed.

· Receive paid on the job training to ensure safe operation of vehicles and work site practices.

· Operate vehicles and work in a safe and responsible manner.

· Follow all DOT laws and regulations regarding driving and working on active highway job sites.

· Conduct themselves in a professional manner.

· Travel distance will vary depending on the location of job sites.

· Ability to work varying shifts

· Overnight stays and weekend travel may be required depending on job site location (travel expenses will be paid by the company).

· This job requires flexibility as work schedules can be affected by customer demands and weather.

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered for this position:

· Valid driver’s license and good driving record (will need to provide a copy of a current motor vehicle record from most recent state of residence prior to interview).

· Must be able to pass a DOT physical.

· Traffic control experience is a plus.

· Starting pay is $15.08/hr. Higher rates will be determined based on experience.

Other Requirements

· Attention to detail and a safety-first mentality are critical.

· Strong time management: while we rely on our customers for work, our customers rely on us to be on time.

· Sunday through Saturday open availability is required due to job and travel needs.

· Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

· Must be able to climb up and down from vehicles and equipment regularly.

· Extended periods of time sitting or standing.

· Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Many job sites will be on active roads and highways; candidates must be comfortable working around moving traffic and varying noise levels.
