Position Summary
NYAP has been awarded a contract with IDHS to expand the crisis services continuum to address SAMHSA's "Meeting Needs, Saving Lives" initiative. National statistics highlight the disparity in care and supportive services to marginalized communities. The communities have higher incarceration rates, hospitalization, homelessness, substance abuse, trauma, and adverse health outcomes. The MCR and Crisis Stabilization program disrupts the systemic patterns that undermine holistic wellness and recovery.


Under the Program Manager's direction, the Therapist will provide crisis intervention, de- escalation, and stabilization services. These intensive supportive services are time-limited, designed to prevent additional behavioral health crises and mitigate adverse health outcomes.

The Therapist will collaborate with local law enforcement, social service agencies, and various NYAP departments to offer solutions that utilize the Whole Person Approach to wellness. The Therapist will work alongside first responders to provide crisis intervention and de- escalation services for adults and children experiencing or at risk of experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Clinicians are expected to work on-scene, conduct mental health assessments, engage in de-escalation, make appropriate referrals, and conduct follow-up services. The clinician will receive clinical supervision from the Program Manager and direction from higher- level staff. As this is a 24/7/365 program, the clinician may work evenings, weekends, and overnights.

Responsibilities
The Therapist will perform duties including, but not limited to:

  • Actively supports, represents, and extends the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Receives referrals from the Crisis Intervention Specialists
  • Completes all follow-up care and home visits within the required time limits
  • Reassess safety and provide referrals for behavioral health and other needed services
  • Guide the 24/7/365 Mobile Crisis Response Team
  • Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities to improve outcomes
  • Prepare and maintain written reports that contain clinical material that is secure, confidential, and in compliance with state and federal privacy.
  • Provide short-term, culturally humble, client-centered, solution-focused clinical intervention.
  • Develop or participate in the development of safety and crisis management plans to assist individuals in maintaining personal safety and those around them when under increased stress.
  • Actively engage the individual and their natural supports and treatment providers in this process and plan development.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field from a CSWE accredited college or university.
  • Illinois license-eligible or accruing clinical hours toward licensure in one of the following areas:
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Knowledge of theories and frameworks related to mental health care.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
  • An awareness or acceptance of the NASW Code of Ethics
  • Is committed to serving the underserved with dignity, compassion, and respect Is an effective and efficient communicator
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily injury liability.
