The School Nurse provides health services to a specific student at Claypit Hill Elementary School to implement a health care plan and provide routine and emergency care.Specific duties include, but are not limited to: 1.Provides all the students nursing services, administers prescribed medications, and ensures all medical needs are met, including personal care;2. Maintains accurate records regarding student health issues and completes and files reports as required, to include recording all interventions, medications, and updating of the health care plan;3.Assesses, evaluates, and refers student health issues, as appropriate, to parents and medical professionals by interacting tactfully and effectively to convey medical information when necessary to parents, school, departmental staff, supervisors, and officials;4.Provides routine and emergency health care specific to the student within the scope of state laws and per medical orders;5.Attends IEP and/or 504 meetings for the student;6.When needed, accompany the student on field trips and transportation;7.Communicates frequently with student, parents, and department personnel, primarily through personal discussion involving routine to complex information;8.Works independently to complete assigned tasks according to a prescribed time schedule, exercises good judgment and initiative, and refers more difficult issues or situations to the appropriate supervisor through consultation with school personnel, parents, and the Towns School Nurse Leader, as appropriateTerms of Employment: 1.Works under the day-to-day supervision of the school principal;2.As necessary, may be required to work outside of normal school hours to accommodate school functions;3.In accordance with the Pay Guidelines for Substitutes and Temporary Employees.
