Location: Platte River State Park, 14421 346th Street in Louisville, Nebraska

This is a temporary position expected to last 11 months from start date.

Examples of Work

This position works under the direction of the Park Superintendent. Supervise and perform technical and practical work supporting the management, development, maintenance and operation of the Outdoor Heritage Education Complex, Group Functions, and other park activities.

Organize and coordinate volunteers and groups. Assist with the supervision, development, and implementation of programs and activities associated with the park’s Group Functions. Hire, train, schedule and supervise seasonal workforce for the above listed areas.

Assist with the management, maintenance, and operation of the Spray Park, Marina, Nature Center, and Crafts. Publicize park areas and the Agency’s mission, program and goals by means of personal appearance before interested groups.

Assist in handling administrative and data collections functions. Maintain records and prepare appropriate reports. Perform related work as assigned or required.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND one year related experience. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

OTHER: Driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to plan, manage, analyze and evaluate park programs. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and application of park and cultural resources management and conservation. Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.

Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain community and public relations with business, special interest groups, and state, local and federal agencies. Knowledge of park operations, administration and financial management. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

Ability to supervise subordinate staff and to enforce park rules and regulations. Ability to work weekends and holidays.
