Summary:

6th-8th Grade Art Teacher - part to full time (0.5 - 1 FTE) to start in August 2023. The art teacher is a specialist responsible for educating each student in their charge and working with students, parents, teachers and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission. This assignment may include teaching: stagecraft, ceramics, drawing, cartooning, sculpture, film, photography, graphic design, etc.


Responsibilities:

  • The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities desired for this position:
  • BA/BS in a related field, with an advanced degree in education or art desired; teaching certificate a plus
  • Experience teaching art desired
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in the field of art
  • Expertise in curriculum development, assessment practices and 21st century learning skills
  • Strong collaboration, coordination and organization skills
  • Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit’s standards and benchmarks
  • Expertise in technology applications and instructional technology practices

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: Art (must upload license or in process documentation to application)
  • Completed and submitted BVSD online application

Preferred:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong art background with the ability to engage K-5 learners
  • Willingness to direct an extracurricular art group and grade level artistic programs

Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
