Tankerman prospects must possess a valid and current MMC with tankerman endorsement, valid TWIC card, and valid drivers license.

Responsibility of the Tankerman:

The Tankerman is the designated PIC and is directly responsible for cargo and other related to Tankerman 1 operations and must ensure these operations are carried out in an efficient, safe, and environmentally sound manner.

The Tankerman is accountable for his own health, safety, and cleanliness as well as the safety, cleanliness and work performance of all those crewmembers under him. He must be familiar with Dupre Marine Transportation policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations, and must abide by them at all times.

Operational duties:

• The Tankerman duties include those of pre-transfer, cargo transfer and post transfer as described in the customer Cargo Handling Procedure Manual.
• The Tankerman checks the condition of drip pans; verifies that an adequate supply of absorbent material is onboard the vessel; monitors the pump seals, gauge tubes, blinds and other fittings for leaks; checks moorings for expected surges, current and weather conditions; and checks all valves, blinds, hoses and couplings.
• When transfer operations are not taking place, the Tankerman 1 will assist the deck crew.
