The Talent Sourcing Specialist is responsible for partnering with the Talent Acquisition team to develop a candidate pipeline of the most qualified candidates for current and future open positions using traditional and innovative sourcing techniques. This position will also develop and track metrics, as well as stay up-to-date on industry best practices to stay competitive in the market. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining job postings on internal and external job boards with accurate position and company information.

Work Location - This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working both onsite at our Headquarters building in East Lansing or Auburn Hills and at home. Typical schedule includes a minimum of 1 day onsite/week.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities -

Talent Sourcing Specialist

  • Develops talent pipelines for future hiring needs
  • Proactively utilizes effective passive sourcing strategies to foster relationships with high potential candidates in an effort to plan for future openings
  • Utilizes innovative recruiting methods including social media sites, networking events, building partnerships, etc.
  • Interacts with potential candidates on social media and professional networks
  • Works closely with the TAS (Talent Acquisition Specialist) in creating and developing sourcing strategies to target, identify, map, and engage potential candidates
  • Independently screens qualified candidates to assess for basic qualifications as well as to assess experience and competency fit utilizing appropriate selection tools
  • Drafts and sends out recruiting emails to potential candidates
  • Understands business strategy and provides innovative and creative recruitment solutions in response to hiring needs
  • Maintains candidate databases (e.g. via our Applicant Tracking System)
  • Measures conversion rates, including numbers of passive candidates who turn into applicants, get invited to interviews, get offers and get hired
  • Creates, posts, maintains, and analyzes job postings using HRIS or other related systems
  • Posts openings to various job boards
  • Follows up on employee referrals
  • Promotes our Employer Brand when they reach out to candidates on various platforms
  • Brands and markets the culture and commitment to the community through relationship-building with community partners, including campus relationships
  • Assists with various recruiting-related special projects and networking events
  • Occasionally conducts and participates in various stages of the recruiting process, including application reviews, phone screens, interviews, and coordination of offers and onboarding
  • Declines candidates when necessary
  • Assists in the development of interview questions
  • Fills high volume openings, as well as technical, niche roles
  • Acts as a brand ambassador for the Credit Union by accepting phone calls to discuss employment opportunities and answer questions on openings
  • Participates in training activities within the department or branch and with the Learning and Development department; such training helps to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
  • Researches, vets, and/or facilitates partnerships with external recruiting firms
  • Monitors and assess sourcing tools in the Talent Acquisition space
  • Performs other duties and assist other employees, as assigned

Talent Sourcing Specialist II:

  • All of Talent Sourcing Specialist I duties and responsibilities
  • Makes recommendations to recruitment branding, including online presence and recruiting materials
  • Co-Leads the recruitment strategy setting based on business needs
  • Utilizes innovative recruiting methods to identify new sourcing methods, including social media, networking events, partnerships
  • Assesses, tracks, and recommends new and innovative methods to enhance Credit Union sourcing strategies

Senior Talent Sourcing Specialist:

  • All of Talent Sourcing Specialist I and II duties and responsibilities
  • Makes recommendations on selection criteria or applicable assessments based on position needs
  • Works closely with other areas of Human Resources to identify process improvements and/or strategy changes to attract high caliber applicants
  • Helps facilitate the recruiting process for high-level roles, including executive recruitment
  • Acts as a mentor and leader to members of the Talent Acquisition and Human Resources teams to support the business needs of management
  • Vets and recommends changes in sourcing tools based on the data/usage/results
  • Evaluates and determines the cost efficacy of sourcing tools and partnerships

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required -

Talent Sourcing Specialist

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree with an HR or Business major preferred
  • Certified Human Resources Professional, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in sourcing/recruiting with hands-on experience using sourcing techniques
  • Knowledge of Boolean search strings and utilizing social media platforms for sourcing
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems, and Candidate Management Systems
  • Ability to quickly learn systems, emerging technology, and offer recommendations
  • Networking ability using industry specific lists, group lists, social media, other forums
  • Understanding of recruiting practices and processes
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices, especially related to hiring
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with candidates
  • Proven ability to establish priorities independently, multi-task efficiently, demonstrate sound judgment, and handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Ability to effectively convey Credit Union culture and offerings when working with candidates
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior
  • Ability to foster teamwork and develop productive relationships with the HR team and various departments

Talent Sourcing Specialist II:

  • Ability to develop and implement solutions to a variety of problems of complex scope
  • Advanced knowledge of Boolean search strings and utilizing social media platforms for sourcing
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient with utilizing HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems, and Candidate Management Systems
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices, especially related to hiring
  • Maintains knowledge of industry best practices by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Senior Talent Sourcing Specialist:

  • All of Talent Sourcing Specialist I and II knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Expert knowledge of Boolean search strings and utilizing social media platforms for sourcing
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable employment laws and practices
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced influence and negotiation skills
  • Continuous learning in support of new fields, communities, geographies, and demographic as the Credit Union and the workforce expands

Physical Demands and Work Environment -

  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements
