Job Summary and Qualifications

• This position requires knowledge of the Sterile Processing Department specific policies, OSHA guidelines, Infection Control Manual, MSDS Book, Safety Procedures and any other hospital required manuals.
• The CST or ST will provide aseptic supplies and equipment to be used in patient care by utilizing the proper processing of instrumentation and supplies, i.e. decontaminating, cleaning, sterilizing, storage, etc.
• The CST or ST will provide safe and effective environment of surgery care through the performance of specific duties during surgical and other invasive procedures under the direction of a registered nurse.
• The CST or ST will perform routine scrub as well as specifically delegated duties according to Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards and established policies and procedures of the department of surgery. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for all staff members. Keeps current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies and equipment; assists with the ongoing Quality Assurance Program.
• Participates in development and attainment of department and PCMC goals.
• Participates in the improving Core Measures and the organizational performance process.
• Ensures that the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies such as the state Department of Health, JCAHO, AAMI and others.

What qualifications you will need:

• 
  Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST), or Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
