Job Summary
This position is responsible for approving and maintaining ingredient, packaging, and chemical suppliers for multiple sites across the US. Working closely with both corporate and plant teams, the Supplier Quality Manager will ensure that supplier risks are evaluated and addressed, and that suppliers maintain our food safety and quality standards.
Essential Job Duties
· Approves new ingredient, packaging, and chemical suppliers
· Performs Food Safety and Quality Risk Assessments on new and current suppliers
· Maintains compliance of ingredient, packaging, and chemical suppliers
· Assists and performs supplier audits, if needed.
· Assists as needed with internal plant corporate audits
· Analyzes trends in supplier food safety and quality compliance
· Manages 3rd party compliance databases such as Repositrak, Tracegains, etc.
· Provides guidance on ingredient specifications
· Acts as a main point of contact for internal and external questions and requests related to supplier and customer compliance
· Serves as a back-up in communications with Kosher and Organic partners

Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in a science or related field is preferred. Three years of experience in food manufacturing or a related field is preferred. Must have or must be capable of acquiring PCQI and SQF Practitioner certification within 6 months of hire. Experience with Kosher and Organic Certification preferred. Food Safety auditing experience is preferred.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb to extended heights (inspection) or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee must be able to perform sensory, including taste, on items produced in the plant, which could include multiple allergens.
Work Environment
Typical office setting along with time spent in food manufacturing plants. Periods of cold in winter, heat and humidity in summer. Dust and smoke/steam are common.
Location
There is some flexibility in the specific office location for this position. Upon negotiation, the individual could potentially work from one of the following locations:
· Severn, NC – main corporate headquarters
· Edenton, NC
· Franklin, VA
· Raleigh, NC
Regular, non-overnight travel will be expected between Severn, Edenton, and Franklin.
Travel Required
Minimal overnight travel required. Must be willing to travel to corporate headquarters in Severn, NC or other plants for training, audits, continuous improvement, or other initiatives. Overnight travel is estimated at once per quarter.
