Supervisor for Facilities and Aquatics
Job Overview
The job of the Supervisor of Facilities and Aquatics is to supervise, oversee, and monitor all Building Managers, Lifeguards and Student Life Center Attendants and to help with the oversight of the Student Life Center.

Job Duties
  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising of Building Managers, Lifeguards and Student Life Center Attendants. This includes informing all employees of the policies and enforcing them consistently
  • Assist with planning and conducting student employee meetings
  • Develop and assist in completing staff evaluations each semester
  • Sit in on disciplinary meetings, as needed
  • Conduct check-ins of staff on an as-needed basis
  • Aid in finding coverage and when needed, providing coverage
  • Serve as the head liaison in the staff GroupMe
  • Ensure certification compliance for all staff
  • Ensure inventory of the Front Desk, Equipment Checkout and Game Room areas using the Fusion Management Program. Assist in one-day events held in the Student Life Center
  • Assist in content creation for the Recreational Sports social media accounts
  • Conduct workshops on job related topics such as customer service, skill building, emergency response, etc.
  • Lead in the implementation of the risk management plan scenarios/evaluations
  • If lifeguard certified:
    • Assist in the planning and and help in the teaching of skills during lifeguard in-service training sessions held each semester
    • Assist in the development and enforcement of policies, rules, and procedures of the Student Life Center Pool and Park Center Pool. This includes meeting with the Cortland County Health Department, as needed
    • Ensure pool chemical checks are completed at specified intervals
  • Attend weekly meetings with Assistant Director of Recreational Sports for Facilities and Aquatics and/or Graduate Assistant for Facilities, Aquatics and Safety

Hours based on Student Life Center schedule, and as needed basis.

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid or be willing to become certified within 30 days of hire
  • Must be a current SUNY Cortland student

Preferred Qualifications

  • It is preferred that applicants have worked a minimum of 1 semester as an employee with the Recreational Sports Program
  • Certification in Cortland County approved Lifeguard, CPR/AED/First Aid licensure
