What You’ll Do:

LEARN Charter School Network, one of this nation’s premier elementary charter school programs, seeks a talented, passionate, detailed, logistic oriented Student Enrichment Manager. The Student Enrichment Manager is a full time position responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, oversight and execution of student engagement initiatives and after school programming.

The Student Enrichment Manager will also be responsible for planning, executing and negotiating school and after school programs across LEARN’s network of 11 schools. In this role you will help our students build camaraderie, community, sense of self, and a passion for afterschool programming.

LEARN seeks a highly skilled individual capable of balancing the logistical and technical demands of building and executing after school programs, such as but not limited to: visual arts, camping trips, swimming lessons, sports leagues, theater, or music, for mostly low income, underserved kids. A successful candidate will be comfortable in a high performing, fast paced, and mission driven environment who has a passion for building communities, delivering unique experiences and events for the youth!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead different aspects of student engagement such as: Creating unique and enriching after school programs and sports leagues, vendor management, process improvement, communications, professional development and transportation
  • Support student connectedness, belonging, engagement, and mentoring programs throughout LEARN network

Outreach and Support:

  • Partner with local after school programs and communities such as Boys and Girls Club and YMCA to cultivate events for student engagement
  • Develop literature and other materials to support current and new programs for students and parents in the market
  • Coordinate with transportation companies for off campus trips

Partnership Development:

  • Establish formal and informal partnerships with system stakeholders in city and the nonprofit sector
  • Partner with principals and network leadership to provide regular, actionable reporting of school and network metrics/data to monitor student engagement, funds expenditure, and address unique/specific school needs
  • Partner with our coaches to coordinate sports events to garner participation

What You’ll Need:

Education, Training and/or Experience

  • Prior experience working within an urban school environment is highly preferred
  • Must be child-centric minded and have passion for urban youth communities
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional work experience in school is required
  • Direct supervisory/management responsibilities
  • Supporting students with diverse needs through school programs
  • Professional experience managing complex, large-scale projects involving high-level cross-school/cross-office collaboration
  • Possess a strong work ethic, function with a sense of urgency and purpose and share our fundamental belief in the capacity of every LEARN Scholar to graduate college
  • Demonstrated expertise in coordinating and executing high level school events
  • Knowledge of best practices in mentoring, student support, student engagement, youth programming, and developing engagement supports at multiple tiers
  • Ability to collaborate and drive consensus on student needs across a diverse group of personnel ( Principals, Coaches, Etc)
  • Expertise in community-based youth development/social services
  • Skilled multi-tasker and excellent time manager; ability to effectively achieve multiple goals and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
  • A passion for the youth of Chicago's underserved communities
  • Strong persuasive, written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record in planning, negotiating and executing events with kids

Physical Demands/Travel:

Ability to communicate and exchange information over the phone, email, and in-person. The nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Lift and carry file boxes up to 15 lbs.

Majority of work is performed in a school and general office environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. The ability to travel in the Chicagoland area.
