- Training in a human relations field such as Social Work, Community Psychology, Education, Child Development and/or work or life experience in a related field
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents from a variety of racial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Willingness to proactively engage with students, families, and others directly impacted by community gun violence
- Prior experience coordinating culturally relevant activities and events for youth and families
- Experience working with anti-violence programs/initiatives
- Experience collecting and analyzing data related to violence prevention and reduction
- Proven experience engaging multiple agencies/stakeholders
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- A willingness and ability to work evening and weekend hours beyond the traditional school schedule
- Experience or background in crisis response and restorative justice (preferred)
- The hourly wage for this position is determined based on the wage in Pay Lane F of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Educational Support Professionals, which is available on our website. The District gives experienced employees up to 20 years of experience credit for service outside the District if it is directly related to their position. 100% of an employee's contributions to IMRF are currently paid by the Board of Education. The Board also pays 100% of employee-only health and term life insurance. There is a minimal employee cost for vision insurance. Dental is also available at competitive rates to interested employees. There are opportunities for employees to earn additional compensation during the regular school year and in the summer.
- This position will remain posted until the hiring process is complete; however, interviews may be conducted as soon as December 1, 2022, so interested applicants should submit their materials ASAP to ensure consideration.
- There are two positions available. The successful candidates will develop separate (but connected) initiatives designed to specifically focus on male and female students. This will be discussed in more detail during the interviews.
- This is a year-round position.
- Champaign Unit 4 Schools serves over 10,000 PreK-Young Adult students in 18 facilities, which include twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, one early childhood facility, and the Novak Academy.
