We’re looking for a storage and backup engineer to join our ranks. In this role, you’ll deploy and support the firm's complex storage infrastructure, data backup, and disaster recovery technologies. Your dedication to providing reliable and flexible data storage services, which are critical for enterprise-wide activities, will be essential. In addition, you’ll need to ensure that data protection and systems resiliency services are properly configured and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploying and administering hardware- and software-based storage solutions using third-party vendors (e.g., HPE Alletra, Hitachi Vantara, and Dell EqualLogic)
- Assisting with design and architecture, and managing storage-specific network equipment and networks
- Conducting performance, capacity, and life-cycle planning across the storage products suite, and ensuring the environment meets business needs
- Managing the backup environment for data integrity and critical data archiving
- Monitoring and maintaining data replication and failover orchestration for high availability and disaster recovery
- Performing problem resolution, root cause analysis, and project implementation to reduce future issues
- Implementing automation and scripting to decrease manual tasks and provide proactive alerting for outages
- Maintaining vendor relationships, conducting research, and testing for new and updated technologies
- Acting as a point of escalation for storage-specific knowledge and experience
- Working with teams to support hardware specifications, quoting, and provisioning
- Documenting systems and configurations, and assisting 24/7 support team with on-call rotation
Core Strengths and Skills
- 5+ years of experience deploying, configuring, and maintaining a wide variety of storage hardware and software
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining petabyte-scale storage platforms, including, but not limited to, HPE Alletra, HPE Nimble, and Hitachi Vantara
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining a storage area network (SAN) and attached hosts
- Experience with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and associated storage management/tiering a plus
- Knowledge of storage-related connectivity protocols and technologies (e.g., iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel, SAN, NAS, DAS, and block)
- Solid knowledge of and experience using scripting technologies (e.g., PowerShell or Python)
- Experience with a variety of backup vendors (Commvault, Cohesity, Veeam, and Rubrik); Zerto Replication experience a plus
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, resolve production issues, and make sensible decisions under pressure
