Position Overview:
The Sr.System Engineer collaborates with the Architecture and engineering teams in the implementation and operation of Verra Mobility. This position works closely with the IT Operations Manager while implementing technology disciplines of the best in class technology deployment, to support business initiatives. This role includes implementing, supporting, securing and monitoring services on-premise and in the cloud. The position will be local to Arizona (Mesa), primarily with staff based in Phoenix, Arizona and the east coast of the US.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Study and understand all current and upcoming system requirements, including both fine-level details and overarching strategic goals, and communicate this information effectively to staff members and executives
  • Support development and implementation of new technologies within a large systems environment by advising on design concepts and changes, implementation strategies and deployment timelines
  • Coordinate with engineers, software developers and systems analysts to design effective solutions that meet requirements for functionality and integration with existing components
  • Manage development, testing and deployment of software and other computer systems technologies to ensure compliance with operational requirements for security, performance, reliability and scalability
  • Research existing and emerging hardware and software technologies to determine capabilities and cost-benefits relationship, and develop ongoing computer systems solutions that meet performance and budgetary requirements
  • Create thorough documentation records of design specifications and instructional manuals as necessary to enable all computer systems personnel and end users to interact correctly and effectively with hardware and software systems
  • Act as technical interface with project stakeholders, providing regular reports and updates of system status to management
  • Manage and negotiate requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations related to system requirements specification
  • Senior level Domain and Server Administration
  • Monitor system performance and data integrity
  • Implement and support Office 365 and related technologies including but not limited to Microsoft Exchange Online, Exchange Server, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Directory Synchronization, and licensing.
  • Advanced experience with service automation, Intune and MS SCOM.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of load balancers, certificates and authentication.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization (VMware).
  • Ability to create and maintain PowerShell scripts.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and updating hardened configurations and baselines
  • Participate in end-to-end root cause analysis.
  • Tracking, controlling, and reporting status of system conditions, software, documentation, and infrastructure changes to management.
  • Senior level experience administering storage solutions
  • Develop and implement capacity planning methodologies and operational reporting
Qualifications:
  • Relevant certification accreditations for different infrastructure components, highly desirable: Network (F5 appliances), Converged infrastructure (Cisco UCS, Flex pod), Virtualization (VMware) and Storage (Unity and Isilon).
  • 7+ years relevant work experience in Microsoft AD, SAN, Exchange, Azure, AWS and networking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Self-directed approach with high degree of initiative to propose new solutions, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • BS in Computer Science or related experience
  • Experience in data center installation and operations.
  • Advanced experience in understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting multi-site and hot-hot architectures.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems is a must.
  • Advanced experience in VMware data center stack; vSphere, NSX, vROps.
  • Advanced experience with NAS and SAN based storage solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing monitoring frameworks on both commercial off-the-shelf and open source.
  • Experience implementing scripts for automation and systems management: PowerShell, bash, JavaScript.
  • Familiar with multi-tiered escalation and on call procedures.
  • Experience working in SOX, SOC2, ISO and PCI compliant multi-tenant environments.
  • Hands-on experience assisting Software Engineering and Quality Assurance with deployment issues related to the different classes of environments that comprise the infrastructure.
  • Experience with IaaS code/automation via Chef, Ansible or Terraform
  • Experience with Public (Azure & AWS) cloud with knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.) and Private Cloud (VMware vSphere, vROPS, vRNI, vRLI)
