Job Title: Support Handler (Spliceman)

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Job Purpose: To splice rolls of support or mat to keep the production line running. Also supports other operation on the line during production.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Splice rolls of support or mat during production. Rolls weigh from 20 to 600 lbs. Rolls are changed by manual assistance from another employee or by mechanical means.
• Assist in the preparation of batches as required.
• Fill the sand/slag holding tank as needed.
• Assists the Impregnator Operator in the preparation of torch film and its changeover.
• Relieves the Impregnator Operator.
• Relieves the Utility Forklift Operator.
• Change and charge the talc slurry system.
• Cross-train in any position deemed necessary.
• Responsible for lace up.
• Keeps records of support/mat being run.
• Change elevator over to correct granule color. Also unloads granule trucks.
• Responsible for unloading molten APP trucks.
• Maintains housekeeping in any area assigned.
• The ability to work overtime as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to lift up to 120 lbs repeatedly.
• The ability to climb ladders.
• The ability to work in hot and humid environments (up to 115 F).
• May be required to stoop/bend/crouch for brief periods.

Qualifications, Required Skills and Competencies

• Basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and counting skills.
• The ability to work in safe and efficient manner.
• Good communication skills.
• Forklift training and certification.

• Needs to be aware of all the hazards of every job and abide by the safety regulations. The same safety equipment is required for you as to whatever job you are doing.
• PPE as required

Pay: From $16.06 per hour
