Are you passionate about helping others and helping young adults with special needs reach their full potential? Are you interested in relocating to the San Francisco area with full room and board?

Apex Social is seeking a caring and responsible individual to provide care for a young adult with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with limited verbal communication and a willingness to learn alternative forms of communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily living activities such as brushing teeth, showering, and preparing meals.
  • Provide transportation to and from school and other appointments.
  • Accompany the young adult to various activities such as baseball and grocery shopping.
  • Engage in activities with the young adult such as puzzles, coloring, and watching home videos.
  • Implement behavioral therapy plans as directed by outside professionals.
  • Provide basic medical care such as lymphatic massage.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with special needs, particularly those with limited verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of alternative forms of communication such as gestures, picture icons, and physical prompts.
  • Ability to assist with daily living activities such as showering, dressing, and preparing meals.
  • Willingness to learn and implement behavioral therapy plans as directed by outside professionals.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to relocate to Moraga, CA and live in the accommodation provided by the family.

Schedule:

  • Weekday schedule from 6AM to 8:30AM and 3PM to 8:30PM.
  • On weekdays with no school, the hours may be from 6AM to 2PM.
  • Weekend hours may be available subject to candidate's interest.
  • The young adult's parents work full-time and are typically out of the house during the weekdays.
