Waitsfield Elementary School is seeking a full-time Special Educator, beginning August 2023. Experience/expertise with case management and supporting students with a variety of needs desired. We seek someone empathetic, flexible and resourceful in helping each child to succeed; solid knowledge of evidence based practices is also important. We value collaboration as we work, in our small school, to maximize the learning experience for our students for whom some learning is more challenging.Waitsfield School is committed to a culture of excellence and inclusivity. We take our work, and our students, but not always ourselves, very seriously. Our district has created district evaluator positions, moving the responsibility of evaluation for special education eligibility, including assessment, off of the shoulders of special educators. As we move into implementing Act 173, this will mean that general special educators can focus even more on instruction and case management.Waitsfield Elementary has a strong student support services team in place; this candidate would join another special educator, speech language pathologist, interventionists and a student support specialist in meeting students' needs.
