Sous Chef

Starting Salary $16/hour Based on Experience • Requires Weekends and Some Holidays

Job Description

Serve as “second-in-command’ of the kitchen. Assist the Executive Chef in supervising food production for The Argyle, the premiere restaurant on the grounds as well as banquets, events, etc. Assist with food production tasks as needed and assure that quality and cost standards are consistently attained.

Chef Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepares daily preparations, food productions

· Assists executive chef with working in any station as assigned by the executive chef

· Assists in maintaining security of kitchen, including equipment and food and supply inventories.

· Assists in food procurement, delivery, storage and issuing of food items.

· Expedites food orders during peak service hours.

· Reports all member and guest complaints to the chef and assists in resolving complaints.

· Submits ideas for future goals, operational improvements and personnel management to executive chef.

· Understands and consistently follows proper sanitation practices including those for personal hygiene.

Chef Requirements and Qualifications

· At least a year’s worth of experience working in kitchen and restaurant settings.

· Valid Jackson County, MO Food Handler Permit or equivalent required

· Willingness to work hard and operate in a team structure

· Knowledge of how to use a wide variety of kitchen equipment
