Starling Physicians is seeking a part-time Sonographer in our Ob/Gyn office.
Schedule will be 15 hours per week between our Hartford, Wethersfield and Bloomfield locations.
Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating imaging equipment in conjunction with assisting physicians and technicians to provide accurate analyses of imaging results.

Key Accountabilities
- Analyzes images to provide preliminary findings for physicians.
- Prepares patient for radiological procedure by taking patient’s history; positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislations; anticipating future legislations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reaction to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid and using emergency cart.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Relationships (Reports to, Supervises)
- Reports to Practice Manager or Clinical Supervisor.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients, co-workers, physicians and the public.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Additional Skills & Requirements)
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must be a graduate of or have certification from an accredited sonography training program.
- Must be licensed in CT.
- Related work experience is preferred.
- Good computer and math skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team and to share responsibilities and duties.
- Ability to set priorities, be organized and be a self-starter.
- Ability to be friendly, empathic and an adept communicator.
- Ability to treat both staff and patients with respect.
Working Conditions, Physical Requirements
- Support function will occur within various clinical settings and work spaces.
- Incumbent may be required to work at any facility based on operation need, and schedule may vary.
- Travel to various practice locations will require ability to drive, valid driver’s license and use of own reliable transportation.
- Physical activity will include walking, standing, and sitting.
- Physical demands may also include lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs. or providing physical assistance to patients.
- Other physical requirements include speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes; vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.; and good manual dexterity.
