Position Summary:

Synthekine is seeking a histotechnologist to work in the Department of Translational Pathology at our Menlo Park, CA location. Reporting to the Senior Director of Translational Pathology, the candidate will routinely perform various histological techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, routine and special staining on FFPE and frozen tissues in a well-equipped lab. The candidate will be essential in the upkeep of the sample inventory by accessioning study samples, blocks, slides and organizing the lab. The individual will be part of a highly collaborative and dynamic team that will support pre-clinical and clinical research in cell therapy, inflammation, immunotherapy and oncology. Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine histology work such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and H&E staining on FFPE and frozen tissues from animal models (murine, non-human primate) and humans.
  • Enter work into electronic lab notebook (Benchling ELN) to maintain records.
  • Assist with digital pathology/ imaging to capture relevant areas of interest and quantify the signal as needed.
  • General maintenance of histology and IHC lab by ordering needed reagents and supplies accordingly.
  • Work and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in techniques in histology such as tissue processing, embedding, microtomy (FFPE) and cryo-sectioning (Frozen). Startup experience is preferred.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in documentation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data generated from experiments with various statistical approaches.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with immunohistochemistry (IHC) using previously optimized protocols and methods is highly desired.
  • Experience with digital pathology/ imaging to capture relevant areas of interest and quantify the signal is highly desired.

The anticipated salary range for the position of Histotechnologist based in our Menlo Park, CA office is $97,000-117,250. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Synthekine is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. We comply with all state federal and local laws regarding pay practices.
