POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager will provide advanced auditing, supervisory and administrative skills necessary to perform large and complex audits and manage multiple audit projects in partnership with the selected third-party Internal Audit partner. This position serves as a trusted advisor to the business and drives operational change activities in partnership with leadership. The candidate will lead the audit risk assessment process, audit execution through definition of audit scope, control evaluations, test activities, findings reporting, and creation of audit reports, issues resolution and identification of business risk profiles. The Senior Project Manager assists department leadership in ensuring that the Internal Audit partner is aligned with UT Southwestern’s strategic vision and mission, by actively promoting staff to be involved in the business and providing strong professional development support to make staff able to make an impact and being ready for the next career step.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field, and five (5) years professional auditing experience to include two (2) years supervisory experience required.
Skilled in mentoring and developing an audit team to ensure a strong skill set in identifying internal control issues, documenting findings and making relevant recommendations, via the audit report. Previous success with driving cultural and operational change in a rapidly progressing environment is desired.

PREFERRED

Healthcare experience
Master’s degree
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) active certification strong preferred.

JOB DUTIES

Acts as the lead liaison between UTSW and the selected third-party Internal Audit partner to perform internal audits, follow-up reviews and consulting engagements relative to new system implementations and process improvements.
Coordinate audit activities on behalf of the selected third-party Internal Audit partner, including access requests, stakeholder introductions, and scheduling meetings.
Manages multiple audit and related projects to assure that professional standards are met and that Department resources are effectively and efficiently utilized.
Assesses risks and evaluates the business procedures and systems controls designed to mitigate those risks.
Works to improve the control environment at UT Southwestern Medical Center to ensure more effective and efficient accomplishment of the audit plan.
Interacts with and builds good working relationships with UT Southwestern Medical Center management at both the senior and departmental level on an on-going basis and though such activities as serving on institutional task forces, and with other University of Texas component institutions’ internal audit departments. The individual is expected to act as a value-add Business partner (while maintaining objectivity and independence).
Evaluates efficiency and cost effectiveness of audit processes; recommend changes to auditing policies, procedures and programs as needed.
Adheres to internal controls established for the department. Keeps informed of and advises staff about departmental policies and professional auditing standards that need to be incorporated into their activities.
Provides direct supervision to subordinate Project Manager and Auditor positions, including performance appraisals, training, scheduling and handling various personnel issues as needed.
Works on special projects at the request of the AVP of Compliance and Internal Audit Operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
