Verra Mobility seeks an experienced, well rounded commercial intellectual property attorney to develop, manage, grow and protect Verra Mobility assets and drive business outcomes. The Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Shared Services and serves the corporation and its business units in all intellectual property matters. This role is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive intellectual property program. A high degree of subject matter expertise, accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, excellent communication skills,ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, organization and planning, minimal supervision, and the ability to manage a dynamic and shifting workload are required to be successful in this position.

• Manage Verra Mobility’s growing IP portfolio, strategy and related matters, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright and other intellectual property rights, as well as marketing and branding.
• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive intellectual property program for patents, trademarks, trade secrets, copyright and other intellectual property rights, including establishing and overseeing a patent review committee and harvesting program.
• Conduct white space analyses and drive recommendation and implementation of strategic alternatives.
• Provide timely advice to the company with regard patentability of new technologies.
• Assist with IP due diligence and deal negotiations in mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft, revise and/or advise on various information technology agreements such as SaaS, cloud, service, software license, and procurement, as well as other corporate commercial agreements as necessary.
• Provide advice in connection with IP disputes, contracts, and litigation.
• Advise on offensive and defensive patent strategies as it relates to emerging technologies and potential competitors.
• In coordination with corporate or business unit product and marketing teams, advise on trademarks and conduct trademark research.
• Manage outside IP counsel.
• Advise company and business units on emerging and important IP matters.

• Law degree (J.D.) from ABA-accredited institution and active membership in at least one US State Bar.
• At least seven (7) years’ combined experience in a corporate law department or law firm advising on IP and patent matters. (Preferred but not required - experience with IP litigation and/or commercial contract drafting and negotiation.)
• Practical business judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Track record of learning quickly, taking initiative, being resourceful and taking on additional responsibility.
• Precise attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing workloads to ensure timely results.
• Self-motivated with ability to interface with cross-functional stakeholders and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously.
