Ramboll is seeking a highly motivated mid-level consultant to join our Environment and Health consulting practice in one of our San Francisco Bay Area offices (Emeryville [primary for this position], San Francisco, or Novato).

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • BS and/or MS Degree in Physical Sciences (e.g. Geology or Environmental Science) or Civil/Chemical/Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable environmental consulting.

As a mid-level consultant, you will be working closely with a collaborative team of Project Managers and other Consultants on a variety of environmental investigation/remediation, and due diligence projects within our broad Environment and Health practice. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for industrial, financial sector, commercial, and global clients. Key Tasks and Responsibilities·

  • Implementing field investigations including air, soil gas, soil, and groundwater sampling programs under the direction of a registered Professional Geologist or Engineer.
  • Prepare concise reports that assess environmental impacts, potential environmental liabilities, and environmental compliance matters at target facilities.
  • Conduct subsurface site investigations at various commercial and industrial properties (primarily in the California, although some sites may be located throughout western United States).
  • Development of scopes of work and cost estimates for subsurface site investigations.
  • Data analysis and presentation of environmental data to summarize key findings, using GIS tools or other software
  • Evaluate remedial program alternatives and develop remedial action plans and cost estimates considering client needs, technical feasibility, and regulatory environment
  • Support multiple projects and meet high-quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Understand federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Preparation of permit applications and/or overseeing implementation of permit conditions.
  • Overseeing subcontractors with minimal supervision.
  • Following corporate health and safety standards.

Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include the following abilities:·

  • Ability and willingness to work as a responsible, independent team player in a consulting environment, including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to drive, travel and/or perform field work out of the office and in outdoor environments approximately 25-50% of the time.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform the following actions while conducting fieldwork: stooping/kneeling/crouching, standing for long periods of time, pulling/pushing and lifting equipment and supplies, walking on uneven terrain.
  • Ability and willingness to work long hours and in proximity to loud noises and hazards (i.e., proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, and gases). Worker may be required to wear a respirator. Proper training and protective equipment will be provided as necessary.

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills:·

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access; experience with GIS mapping and/or AutoCAD are a plus

Preferred Skills·

  • Experience conducting environmental due diligence assessment, site investigation and characterization, and remedial program design and management.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations pertaining to site investigation and remediation with experience working in California.
  • Professional Engineer or Geologist, or Geologist-in-Training or Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • If not already licensed, ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist within 2 to 3 years.
  • Skills in applied environmental chemistry, geochemistry and hydrogeology.
  • Completion of the OSHA 40-hour health and safety training course (Ramboll will arrange for training if the candidate is not certified).

At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual base salary between $78,500 and $95,000. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
