Reporting to the Director of HR/Employee Relations, the Compensation Analyst will assist in the development and administration of College-wide compensation programs. This position is responsible for the analysis, design, implementation and administration of competitive compensation programs which are innovative, compliant, cost effective and which support the College's strategic talent objectives of attracting and retaining top talent across the institution.

The Compensation Analyst will work closely with division staff to collect job data and consistently manage the job-leveling process, participate in salary surveys, and price jobs using internal and external market data to ensure consistency in the pay structure across the entire organization. The Compensation Analyst will also provide project support across HR initiatives and support efforts to develop and update policies, procedures, and program documentation.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Consults and offers guidance on compensation policy interpretation, new hire, offers, promotions, market analysis, job evaluation, and other compensation projects and initiatives.
  • Assists in the design, implementation, and administration of compensation programs and policies.
  • Evaluates jobs and recommends grades to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Manages staff and faculty annual salary planning process.
  • Conducts ongoing data audits ensuring data accuracy and integrity of all compensation related information in all systems, tools and resources.
  • Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Assesses jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Prepares compensation program documentation, training materials and employee communications.
  • Develops and documents procedure to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Works with HRIS to ensure that all systems meet compensation needs and are updated.
  • Replies to requests from managers and division staff regarding compensation-related issues.
  • Studies labor market and compensation related trends.
  • Participates in salary surveys.
  • Manages assigned projects through the various stages of the project life cycle, from concept to implementation.
  • Prepares reports as needed.
  • Supports special projects as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
  • CCP-designation preferred or taking classes towards certification
  • Five or more years of compensation experience, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with demonstrated advanced proficiency in Excel, including use of pivot tables, vlookups, conditional formatting, data tables, compensation and statistical formulas and other similar features.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, communicate and implement compensation programs
  • Ability to drive projects from concept through implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of compensation policies and practices, as well as federal and state wage and hour law.
  • Must demonstrate discretion and good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information. Demonstrated commitment to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative team player who can effectively interact with individuals with variable working styles across all organizational levels within and outside of the company
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, strong organizational skills and project administration skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively and able to handle the stress of shifting and competing priorities, show resourcefulness, work proactively and deliver high quality results.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills. The ability to analyze and interpret large amounts of data and articulate clear and effective observations and recommendations.
  • Ability to function as an effective and respected partner to internal clients.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

Additional Information:


This is a full-time, exempt level position with a salary range of $85,000-$95,000. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The College also offers a competitive benefits package for full-time staff, including:
