The Mission
of Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is to improve public safety by positively changing lives.

Our agency is looking to fill a full-time, permanent Secretary Senior vacancy within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Kennewick Field Office located at 500 North Morain St., Suite 1101, Kennewick, WA 99336.

Under general direction of the Office Support Supervisor II (OSS2), this position provides clerical and general office support to the Community Corrections Supervisors (CCS) and Community Corrections Officers (CCOs) for the Kennewick Field Office, Tri-Cities Annex, Tri-Cities Outstations, Eastern WA Community Corrections Violator Program, Pasco Field Office, and Walla Walla Field Offices.

Duties

  • Provide clerical and general office support for the CCS and CCOs at the Kennewick Field Office, Tri-Cities Annex, Tri-Cities Outstations, and Eastern WA Community Corrections Violator Program.
    • Drafting, typing, proofreading, and maintaining correspondence for CCSs.
    • Specialized knowledge in data entry systems such as Offender Management Network Information (OMNI).
    • Review and maintain reports/spreadsheets.
    • Support staff file assignments, receiving/processing work requests.
    • Manage caseload assignments in OMNI.
    • Maintain electronic and physical files.
    • Act as liaison for office repairs, service, and maintenance.
  • Provide back up support to Office Supervisor and Office Assistant Lead (OAL) positions when on leave.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of increasingly responsible office/clerical experience requiring keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • And a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to use and provide technical assistance to others with common computer programs and software such as Microsoft Office programs and employer-specific programs such as OMNI or similar programs.
  • Ability to file, use appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to assist individuals with various criminal backgrounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and solve problems under highly stressful or adverse situations.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality.
