JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Parks and Golf Grounds and Park Service Foreman, Seasonal Labor is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and landscaping tasks to provide safe and attractive parks, playgrounds and athletic fields throughout the District. Duties include but not limited to maintaining the grounds at our parks and facilities; mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, watering, trash picking/collection, etc. and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform trail maintenance (i.e., clean up and debris removal, mulching) as directed.

Perform litter pickup, garbage pickup, recycling activities, and park and playground inspections as directed.

Perform cleaning and maintenance of park shelters, restrooms, and assigned buildings.

Perform power and trim mowing in assigned parks.

Demonstrate and support Park District customer service standards.

Follow district and department safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a part-time union position. This position requires working Monday through Friday with possible evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours range from 30-40 hours.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and equipment and in outdoor weather conditions. Employee frequently works in situations and is exposed to fumes, airborne particles and other hazards and elements associated with construction sites. The noise level within the employee’s work environment frequently exceeds the normal decibel levels. The Park District provides safety equipment for these situations.
