Job description

To help reduce or eliminate speech difficulties that interfere with each student’s ability to derive full benefit from the district’s educational program

1. Know and effectively communicate the Division philosophy and mission
2. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balance program for oral communication and speech improvement
3. Provide a therapeutic program to meet the individual needs of speech-impaired children
4. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified children with speech and language impairments
5. Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairment
6. Provide screening at regular intervals and at specified levels to identify speech-impaired children
7. Assist in making referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community
8. Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet IEP requirements in correcting existing speech or language impairments
9. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by giving suggestions for the student’s daily activities
10. Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families
11. Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement
12. Keep thorough on-going records for each student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services
13. Serve as a member of the Student Based Team (SBT) and Special Education Eligibility Committee as appropriate
14. Maintain lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services
15. Requisition and maintain needed equipment and supplies
16. Prepare and administer the annual budget for speech therapy services
17. Perform such additional tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by school administrator

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $62,612.00 - $96,964.00 per year
