Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Production Manager, the Robotic Welding Engineer is responsible for the operation, programming, maintenance and troubleshooting of robotic welding projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and develop full robot programs including, but is not limited to, searching functions, error handling, coordinated motion, weld paths development, and PLC communication. Use various 3D offline programming software.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Meets project schedules. Provides manufacturing manager and lead project engineer with timely status reports of projects.
  • Reviews layouts, mechanical prints, and electrical schematic drawings.
  • Service the robot weld torch and wire feeding system. This includes changing the torch, contact tips, gas diffusers, insulators, nozzles, and drive rolls, and changing welding wire.
  • Troubleshooting robot errors and perform basic preventative and regular maintenance on robotic welder.
  • Develop weld parameters for customer process. Ensure weldments meet or exceed set standards.
  • Maintaining robotic weld quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to read and understand weld prints and callouts
  • Assists with electrical and mechanical assembly to meet project schedules.
  • Travels as required to complete project tasks or field service assignment.
  • Stay current in new developments in the industry.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in related field; equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience programming and operating a weld robot.
  • Experience with set-up and integration of weld equipment in an automated system.
  • MIG/TIG welding experience, Laser welding a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as correspondences, safety regulations, instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to write correspondences and routine reports. Ability to effectively communication one on one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees within the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, bank deposit slips, procedure manuals, and various documents.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, percent, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and interest.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to project a competent and likable impression of yourself and the company to customers and vendors. Ability to interface with company employees (including managers, colleagues, and shop personnel); verbally, in writing, and in person; in a positive and helpful way. Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Proficiency using Windows-based personal computers including common apps such as internet browsers, photo and video viewers, PDF file viewers, online meeting software, etc.
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment such as a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
