Treasure Valley Hospital is a 28-bed, Joint Commission accredited surgical facility located in Boise, Idaho, which is consistently recognized for patient satisfaction. Check out our Google Reviews to see why our patients recommend us so highly! TVH has 10 OR's and specializes in Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Gynecology, General Surgery and others. We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to perform pre-surgical testing on our patients and help them prepare for their procedures. This is a full-time position, M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

License or Certification:

• Idaho RN license required.
• BLS or ACLS certification required.

Education, Vocational Training, and Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school required.
• Minimum of 5 years Med/Surg or Perioperative experience required.
• Must be proficient at EKG testing.

Responsibilities Include:

• Registered nurse provides complete surgical charts to prep areas the day before scheduled surgery.
• Ensure patient safety by thorough review of chart, written orders, and communication with physicians and other providers.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment in planning for the care of the patient.
• Supervise and obtain preoperative lab reports, physician orders, and previous medical history documentation.

Interpersonal Relations: Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, teammates, visitors, etc., must be in a manner that is friendly, positive, supportive, respectful, courteous, cooperative, and professional. This behavior must promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is consistent with hospital standards and guidelines to ensure a positive healthcare experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Maintain patient charts and department filing systems.
• Proofread documents.
• Research information.
• Ability to organize and handle details with ease.
• Computational and analytical skills.
• Ability to work under tight guidelines and meet deadlines.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• A Registered Nurse must have good communication skills.
• Ability to teach an adult learner.
• Good reasoning ability and independent judgment.
• Ability to set priorities.
• Experience with Cerner EMR system preferred.
• Must be proficient at EKG testing.

Physical Tasks:

• Sedentary work and prolonged standing/walking.
• A Registered Nurse lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
• Lifts supplies and equipment.
• Occasional to considerable reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to enunciate English clearly and use proper grammar.
